Youth Internships & Training
Sociedad Latine Workforce Development:
Prepares youth for careers in fields where Latines are underrepresented, including healthcare, public service, the arts, STEM, and entrepreneurship.
Youth participate in Sociedad Latina’s Work Readiness Curriculum (adapted from Signal Success) and engage in monthly career exploration activities, such as career panels and job shadows, to better understand various career fields where Latines are underrepresented. They also receive guidance from career pathways mentors to complete a capstone presentation. After finishing this training, they are placed in internships with employer partners to develop workforce skills, explore potential career paths, and expand their professional network.

Apply to one of the following four programs: Youth Artists Mastery, Youth Community Organizing, Health Education, or Environmental & Food Justice.
*Paid interns receive $15/hour, and you must be a high school student in BPS or a Boston resident to qualify.

PIC Youth Employment
PIC Summer Internships Program:
Each summer, the Boston Private Industry Council (PIC) collaborates with the City of Boston, Boston Public Schools, and local private sector employers to participate in the Mayor’s Summer Jobs Program. Boston high school students are placed in employer-paid jobs or internships at over 200 private sector companies and institutions across key industries in Boston, including Healthcare, Financial Services, Life Sciences, Technology, Architecture, and Law.
Schedule: July – August, 6 – 7 weeks, Monday – Friday
Hours: 25 – 40 hours per week (schedules vary by employer)
Wage: $15 – $18 per hour (wages vary by employer)
Program Eligibility: Must be in 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade at a Boston Public School, must be 16 years old by July 1, 2025 (some hospital internships require you to be 16 by May 1, 2025), and you must be authorized to work in the United States
Healthcare is a major industry in Boston, with one in every five jobs in the City related to this field! As a high school intern in healthcare, you’ll gain valuable experience working in a hospital environment. While you might not interact directly with patients, you’ll have the opportunity to explore a variety of dynamic and interesting departments.

LEAH Project:
The mission of the LEAH Project is to empower young people, particularly Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) youth, to diversify the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Through paid STEM internships, engaging college and career readiness programs, and valuable youth leadership opportunities, LEAH builds youth confidence and provides them with the skills and connections necessary for success.
Focusing on marginalized youth in the Boston area who have been historically excluded from the STEM workforce, LEAH addresses disparities in education, college preparation, and career pathways through internships, mentorships, social-emotional learning support, and college readiness programming.
LEAH operates under Health Resources in Action (HRiA), a nonprofit public health organization dedicated to helping individuals live healthier lives and fostering healthier communities.
Since its inception in 2005, LEAH has positively impacted the lives of over 7,500 elementary and high school students in the Boston area, offering a rich array of opportunities, experiences, and relationships that inspire and support academic success and career exploration.
The STEM Teaching Internship is a paid opportunity that operates during the school year. Applications generally open in late summer or early fall. Interns are assigned to out-of-school programs where they teach STEM curricula to elementary school students.
Interns Will: Receive comprehensive training in classroom management, lesson planning, professionalism, and STEM subjects aligned with the LEAH curriculum; Support afterschool programs while serving as a role model for young students; Connect with high school peers from across Boston and build a supportive network; Explore STEM careers and academic fields; and get assistance with the college application process.

Join an intensive lab experience at MIT during the summer following your 10th or 11th grade. Engage in at least five STEM events during the subsequent school year.
Following your initial summer lab experience, secure a placement in an academic, organizational, or corporate lab the following summer to further develop your lab and research skills.
Be paired with a mentor working in a STEM field, and receive guidance throughout the college application process.
Applications are accepted from January to March each year.

Castle Square Tenants Organization (CSTO):
Today, CSTO holds the majority ownership of the Castle Square apartment complex. Additionally, CSTO provides a range of direct service programs, including innovative “learn and earn” initiatives focused on technology and digital media for under-resourced youth, an EEC-licensed after-school enrichment program for grades K-8, adult technology classes, health and wellness workshops for seniors, and a social enterprise that offers low-cost computer equipment and IT support. CSTO and WinnCompanies are also expanding their successful partnership and have recently received approval from the Boston Housing Authority to acquire the Eva White buildings, located next to Castle Square.
Dive into the world of Canon DSLR photography and master the art of creating striking, professional portraits that will last a lifetime. Capture and narrate unique stories about the people and environment around you while exploring the essence of filmmaking. Gain the skills to organize and promote public events that draw others in and foster support. This unique opportunity allows you to view the world through your camera lens and showcase your perspective.
Program Highlights: Learn to use a Canon DSLR camera for photography and videography; Develop and script your own creative ideas for shooting; Edit and enhance your photos using Adobe Photoshop, including techniques like dodging and burning; Use Final Cut Pro to import, edit, and add effects and transitions to your videos, creating a polished film; Collaborate with peers to organize and execute community-friendly events such as movie nights, film festivals, and end-of-cycle presentations.
Interns receive a learning stipend upon successful completion of the program.

The Square Tech Training Program is a paid and volunteer internship designed for high school students aged 14 to 19. This program offers technology and business-focused workshops that lay a strong foundation for skill development. Hosted in CSTO’s facilities, participants gain essential technology skills while forming lasting connections with peers and mentors.
Interns Will: Develop technical and business skills through a series of workshops. Acquire new technical knowledge and competencies. Participate in hands-on-training that introduces fundamental concepts of entry-level IT jobs. Building valuable workforce skills and gain practical technology experience. Select 3 to 4 workshops based on their interests and availability.
Interns will receive a learning stipend upon successful completion of the program.
