Young Adult Employment with the Boston PIC
Employers: Providing Boston’s young adults with meaningful first job opportunities can significantly impact their lives while fulfilling your need for reliable entry-level employees.
In 2024, with support from the PIC, JVS launched the Young Adult Career Center Services at the MassHire Downtown Career Center. This initiative is designed to help young adults explore career paths, build essential skills, and connect with job and training opportunities to prepare them for a successful future.
Building on the success of this pilot program, the Opportunity Youth Collaborative–co-convened by the PIC and the Boston Opportunity Agenda–has secured the Scaling Youth Opportunities Cohort (SYOC) grant from the Aspen Forum for Community Solutions. This grant will expand young adult career navigation services at JVS’s MassHire Downtown Career Center and the new MassHire Boston ABCD Career Center. Additionally, it will fund a PIC Young Adult Transitions Manager dedicated to connecting non-college bound Boston Public Schools students with career center resources.

Recruitment Through Career Centers
Boston’s MassHire Career Centers, also known as American Job Centers, serve as key access points to the public workforce system for both job seekers and employers. Boston is home to two career centers:
- MassHire Boston ABCD Career Center (Currently offering all services virtually Monday-Friday, 8:30AM-4:30PM with walk-in services available on Mondays and Thursdays, 9:00AM-4:00PM at Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts, 88 Warren Street, Roxbury, MA 02119
- MassHire Downtown Boston Career Center (Operated by JVS)
Career centers offer a variety of free resources to support both individuals and businesses. For employers, the centers facilitate connections with skilled and qualified candidates. They also organize job fairs, on-site recruitment events, and targeted outreach initiatives.
Pipeline – Convenings
The Greater Boston Workforce Planning Blueprint highlights two key industries critical to the region’s economic growth:
- Healthcare and Social Assistance
- Professional and Technical Services, with a focus on the technology sector
To help employers build strong, local talent pipelines for these priority sectors, the PIC brings together employers, government officials, educators, and community leaders through collaborative convenings.
Boston Healthcare Career Consortium (HCC)
The Boston HCC unites employers, educators, labor organizations, and workforce partners to enhance healthcare education and training opportunities. Its mission is to create efficient, effective programs for job seekers and current employees that align with the evolving needs of the healthcare industry.

TechHire Boston serves as a hub for organizations, resources, events, and initiatives dedicated to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive technology workforce in the Boston area.
